Hopping The Fence!

It's a beautiful, sunny day in southeastern Michigan.  A little chilly, but just enough to wake you up.  In the park I usually run in, there's a trail that's closed to the public.  I've been eyeballing it all summer.  I'm usually a good little runner and respect that road blocks are put up for a reason-but today I just could not abide!  Under and over the fence my dog and I went!
I know! I know! It could have been a dangerous situation: A woman by herself out in the woods where no one can hear her (My mothers voice was lecturing me the whole time, trust me!), but since I was in a relatively suburban to rural area I decided to take my chances.
The path way was beautiful with all the autumn leaves. There were quite a few hills and I'll probably be sore from them later, but I have no regrets. Long story made short, the trail led to an old campground now used for picnic table storage.  Nothing crazy. No misadventures or spooky stories for Halloween.  Sometimes it's rewarding to venture off the beaten path.  It might not always be legal or advisable....but it'll usually be fun-assuming you're being careful, of course!

Jogger or Runner?

I haven't gone running today since it's gym day. No feelings truly hurt here since I did spot a few <gasp!> snowflakes while looking outside earlier.  Tomorrow, I'll suck it up and go outside.

I ran across the old article below this morning on a subject I never really thought about. Do YOU get angry when someone calls you a jogger? Or is it really no big deal? Personally, I never really knew there was a difference until I read the article. I don't see being a jogger as a negative thing. I suppose since I started entering races 2 years ago, I'd be considered a runner. My conclusion is that no matter whether you pay to enter and compete in races, or simply just head out to enjoy the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other at a quick pace, we all have and enjoy the same general passion. Keep moving!!!!

My Nose Is Running-Along With The Rest Of Me...

So, I woke up this morning to frost on the ground and job layoffs looming in the next week, and decided it was a perfect day to play hookie and go running instead. A strange breed we runners are! But a few hours later I found myself bundled up just to the brink of immobility and the dog loaded in the car.

The park was beautiful: sun shining on the bright orange and red leaves and the pavement still wet from last nights snaining (yes, I'm one of those weirdos that call snow and rain "snain"). It was frigid cold-for me. Anything below 50 degrees I consider frigid, but I'm making an effort to stay off the treadmill and outside this winter. But I put on my headphones and rocked out. I love how you can put on some great music and the miles become so easy as you become lost the music and the scenery! As of today I vow to bring my camera with me to capture some of the more appealing sights on my runs.

For now I'll just include a picture my my favorite running buddy, Lebowski.

Test Run

Time to break in some sneakers. First attempt at a blog post...
